In der Mitte seht ihr den 103 Meter hohen Bahntower (links, Sitz der Dachgesellschaft der Deutschen Bahn AG), daneben bzw. On the top level of Kollhoff-Tower is a viewing platform which offers a really nice view over Berlin, and I can highly recommend a visit. The tower is named after its architect Hans Kollhoff. Its brick façade and general design were inspired by early 20th century high-rise architecture. Kollhof-Tower right across was opened in 1999. I should admit that when I took this photo, I didn't think of the aforementioned incidents, or otherwise I might have kept more of a distance to BahnTower ) Luckily, no one was injured in any of the incidents. In later years, BahnTower also gained a certain notoriety, because on several occasions glass elements from the façade fell onto the pavement (in 20), and in 2016 a glass panel fell onto a car driving by. Aus diesem Blickwinkel sieht der Cube riesig aus, als würde er die gesamte Architektur dort dominieren, HBF inklusive, aber vor Ort wirkt er gar nicht so riesig, im Gegenteil, er fügt sich schön in die bereits vorhandene Architektur ein. Dies ist wieder der kürzlich eröffnete cube berlin am Hauptbahnhof.
The martlets were there before the first tenants moved in, I'm sure they think it's their very own building -)Įine kleine Pause vom Olympiastadion. When you zoom in you can see quite many martlets above the cube's roof and also next But actually it isn't that huge and complements the architecture there in a very pleasing way. From this point of view the cube looks huge, almost like "bam, straight in-your-face!", as if it were dominating every single building there, the Hauptbahnhof included.
